Common mistakes

Mistake : Consistent measurement is also an accurate measurement.
Truth : Consistent measurement can be accurate or otherwise.

Mistake : Even with no force acting on a moving object, it will eventually stop.
Truth : Only a force can cause a change in the motion of a moving object.

Mistake : A piece of paper when dropped vertically experiences free fall.
Truth : Other than the gravitational force, the paper also experiences
frictional force due to the air. Hence its fall is not a free fall.

Mistake : A person's weight is 70 kg.
Truth : A person's mass is 70 kg.

Mistake : The force applied to a spring is directly proportional to the length of
the spring.
Truth : The force applied to a spring is directly proportional to the extension
of the spring.
